Team Adjustments for Waratahs Ahead of Chiefs Showdown

Head Coach Darren Coleman has made a handful of changes to the team that defeated the Crusaders 43-40 in Round 8 for the highly anticipated clash with a strong Chiefs outfit.

Forward Pack Changes: Sinclair and Amatosero Promoted

Hugh Sinclair and Miles Amatosero have been promoted to the starting lineup for the forward pack, where they will team up in the second row.

Gleeson Relegated to Reserves as Hanigan Takes Number 8

This change in status sends Jed Holloway and Langi Gleeson back to the reserves, where they will contribute greatly during the latter part of the match.

Langi Gleeson finds himself on the reserves list because of the versatility and excellent form of Ned Hanigan, who secures the Number 8 position.

Fonokalafi Returns as Fourie Sidelined by Injury

Jay Fonokalafi makes a comeback to the team following the unfortunate announcement of hooker Theo Fourie’s season-ending foot injury.

Backline Reshuffle: Nawaqanitawase and Walton in, Perese Out

In the backline, Mark Nawaqanitawase returns to the wing alongside Triston Reilly, while Joey Walton gets the nod to start at outside centre, leading to Izaia Perese’s placement on the reserves list.

Waratahs and Chiefs Revitalized for Anticipated Clash

Both the Waratahs and the Chiefs enter this match revitalized, having enjoyed a bye week recently. However, their paths leading to this break differed significantly: NSW rode the wave of a morale-boosting victory over the Crusaders, whereas the Chiefs grappled with a 36-23 loss to the Hurricanes.

Despite this, the Chiefs hold firm in fifth place on the ladder and present a formidable challenge for the home team.
