The two sides last met at Suncorp Stadium in round 14 last season, where the Raiders went down to the Broncos 24-18. However, the Raiders have won their last three out of four clashes against the Broncos.
Two of the competitions best back rowers will be facing off on Saturday as Hudson Young takes on the in-form Bronco Jordan Riki. Another great matchup will be Joseph Tapine and Payne Haas. Both were awarded the 2022 Dally M prop of the year last season, with the two best front rowers in the competition facing off this Saturday.
Raiders:
1. Sebastian Kris 2. Albert Hopoate 3. Jarrod Croker 4. Matthew Timoko 5. Jordan Rapana 6. Brad Schneider 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Josh Papali’i 9. Zac Woolford 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. The Raiders need to build on their solid first half performance from last week, and stay locked in for the entire 80 minutes of footy.
Unfortunately the Canberra side has been riddled with injuries so far this season, with the trend continuing in round five as Matt Frawley suffered a broken hand in the clash against Penrith, ruling him out of this Saturday’s game. Jack Wighton is still unavailable through suspension.
Brad Schneider steps into five-eighth in his first game of the 2023 NRL season to replace the injured Raiders half.
Fan favourite Jarrod Croker returns to the NRL on Saturday playing in the centres after consecutive strong performances in NSW Cup.
Corey Horsburgh has been named in the starting 13 for the first time this season where he will play at lock.
Referee: Grant Atkins
The Raiders and Broncos have faced off 37 times. Historically the Broncos are the victor, winning 21 matches to the Raiders 15.
The Broncos have been the best team so far, so we can’t see them being tested by the hapless Raiders, who were hammered by the Panthers last week.
PREDICTION.
Both sides have talent a plenty but the Raiders seem to be lacking something, while the Broncos are full of confidence sitting as the only unbeaten side at the top of the table. I am going to go with the Broncos, with speed and talent right across the paddock.
Broncos at 13 plus @ $1.73, BUT, you can get Raiders @ 17.5 plus points start @ $1.74
