Manly had the bye last week after their convincing 31-6 win over the Bulldogs in Round 1. That win is looking even better after the Bulldogs thrashed the Storm 26-12 in Round 2. The bye probably came at the wrong time as the Manly team look to build some momentum under new coach Anthony Seibold, but they will get another chance to show they are the real deal against the Eels in Round 3 and can inflict a third straight loss on the reigning grand finalists.

Eels.

1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Maika Sivo 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Waqa Blake 5. Bailey Simonsson 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Josh Hodgson 10. Junior Paulo 11. Bryce Cartwright 12. Matt Doorey 13. J’maine Hopgood 14. Jirah Momoisea 15. Jack Murchie 16. Wiremu Greig 17. Makahesi Makatoa 18. Jakob Arthur 19. Haze Dunster 20. Ofahiki Ogden 21. Ky Rodwell 22. Isaac Lumelume,

There are real signs of a Grand Final hangover at the Eels, who are one of only three winless teams heading into Round 3. The Eels looked good in attack against the Sharks, but their defence deserted them in a 30-26 defeat. In a good sign Mitchell Moses returned to form with two tries, while halves partner Dylan Brown had three try assists. However, it was a tough night for Josh Hodgson at hooker with six missed tackles and two errors, while he had zero run metres and he needs to offer much more with his running game. The Eels come up against a reborn Manly side rested after the bye, in a bid to avoid three straight losses to start the season.

The Eels are unchanged from last week.

Prediction. MANLY at plus 3.5 points @ $1.48 looks sweet to me .Manly look tougher this year and at home will be cheered on by the home crowd, The Eels have lost the first two and will not want to lose three in a row, so they will be tough. For Eels fans take Plus 6.5 points @ $1.54
