NRL, ROUND 9, APRIL 28th, 2023 BRISBANE BRONCOS v SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

SUNCORP STADIUM,BRISBANE.

The Broncos have had quite the start to the 2023 season; they have only lost one game and are sitting on top of the ladder. On Friday night, they looked every bit the premiership heavyweights in their win over the Eels.

Reece Walsh has been a revelation at fullback and has given the Broncos some spark in the backline. He will have to stand up this weekend as Ezra Mam will be missing through suspension. Mam is not the only Bronco that will miss this mouth-watering clash through suspension; Payne Haas will also be watching from the grandstand.

The Rabbitohs had to come from behind to beat the reigning premiers. All of their big players stood up, with Latrell Mitchell being a proper thorn in the Panthers’ side last week. His clash with Walsh will no doubt be the highlight of the game.

While he put on a masterclass against his old side last year, Adam Reynolds will look to notch another win against the Rabbitohs.

PREDICTION.

This is a huge game between two teams in the top four as Brisbane Broncos host South Sydney Rabbitohs. The home side have been brilliant this season, losing just one of their eight matches to date while the Bunnies are starting to come into form having won their last three. They defeated reigning premiers Penrith Panthers thanks to showing some excellent character late in that game and with the team news for this working in the favour of the away side, the Rabbits can capitalise on some disciplinary strife for the Broncos to come away with the win.

Payne Haas ,Ezra Mam, and Corey Oates are all out for the Broncos this week. Jock Madden makes his debut for the Brisbane team at five eight and Keenan Palasia starting for Payne Haas. Jessie Arthars comes in for Corey Oates. Tevita Tatola returns for the Bunnies.

The last ten games sits at five a piece, so someone is going to make it 6-5. WHO?

It will be wet and slippery in Brisbane with rain in the forecast so that will slow the foot work of the speedsters a little, and the kicking game of Moses and Reynolds will be important.

I think Souths can pull this off ,especially with three key Broncos missing this week, but as a Queensland fan I will back Brisbane with a start of plus 7.5 points @1.62
