AUSTRALIAN WALLABIES 2022

Rugby Union

The Wallabies are the national side of Australia in Rugby Union and in recent years they have improved in certain area’s of the game in my opinion.

Dave Rennie is the coach, formally from New Zealand and a very good coach. He obviously has stamped the kiwi style of footie into the Australian game, which I think is a good thing.

Not sure how the public feel about this. Dave was involved with the Waikato Chiefs and won several titles with them and became coach of Australia after Michael Cheika was sacked following the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

They were beaten By England at the quarter final stage. In the recent series against England they were beaten in the series 2-1, and like I said played well at times but not consistent enough to produce the wins required.

They had a lot of injuries in the series but showed enough that they are heading in the right direction and with a little bit of luck, and if they can keep their best players injury free, they will compete in France in 2023.

Next up, is two games in Argentina, in August, and this will be tough for Australia .The Puma’s have huge forwards and love to use their muscle while the backs are speedy and skillful.

It is a very difficult place to win with the spectators very passionate and noisy.

This will be a test for Rennie and his players, with the World Cup a year away, and the Australian supporters who expect a win. Argentina recently won a series against Scotland 2-1,but the Wallabies will be better than Scotland.

Good enough to win. I am not so sure. I predict Argentina to win both test matches.

With Cheika as the coach of the Pumas he would love to stick it to the Australian side, before they head to South Africa to play the Springboks.
