Well after watching the Test match between All Blacks and Ireland I got pretty much what i though would happen.
The AB’s were slow for the first 20 minutes but then woke up and Ireland could not keep up. I thought Ireland kicked to much and that invites the AB’s to attack and attack they did.
I picked Leicester Fainga’anuku to score but he ended up about a metre short. Watch out this week, I back him again to get a meat pie.
The tight five of the AB’s set the platform with hard work and so pleased to see Scott Barrett working so hard on the side of the scrum. This week he is back at lock, his preferred position, where he will stay for the world cup I predict.
Big Sam Whitelock is out with concussion Some new blood this week with Will Jordan, Dalton Papali at 6 and Fakatava coming off the bench late. He will need to be contained with his speed round the ruck and that deadly inside flick pass.
With the loose trio of Papali, Cane and Savea the Blacks are going for speed on the hard surface at the indoor stadium of Forsyth Barr in Dunedin.
Jako Peyper from South Africa, will be on the whistle so this will be a fast game. For Ireland, they will try, I am sure and will score a couple but it could be a long night I think. Immediately after this first test I watched the Wallaby’s v England. I wish I hadn’t as it was a bore with both sides kicking the ball away and very limited rugby played.
The ref certainly did not help with a stop start game but in my opinion both sides were poor, and looked like trying not to loose, more than trying to win the game.
They meet again this week but I really do not expect much better. It is a shame especially with Dave Rennie as coach he normally likes his team to spread the ball and score tries out wide.
I hope this happens as the Wallabies have some good ball runners and England love the stop start boring rugby played in the North.
