NRL, ROUND 6, APRIL 9th, 2023 NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS v NZ WARRIORS

Rugby posts on the stadium Rugby League

McDONALD JONES STADIUM, NEWCASTLE

Knights:

1. Lachlan Miller 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Phoenix Crossland 7. Jackson Hastings 8. Daniel Saifiti 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Leo Thompson 11. Tyson Frizell 12. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 13. Jack Johns 14. Kurt Mann 15. Jack Hetherington 16. Mathew Croker 17. Brodie Jones 18. Enari Tuala 19. Dylan Lucas 20. Thomas Cant 21. Hymel Hunt 22. Ryan Rivett

The Knights have produced some herculean efforts throughout the season, including last week’s 32-32 draw with an in-form Manly side.

The Knights have won three of their last four games against the Warriors and should be buoyed by their recent performances and what should be a packed McDonald Jones Stadium.

Dominic Young bagged four try’s las week against a good Manly side so he is a threat, as is Marzhew on the other side.

Tyson Gamble is out with concussion and replaced in the halves by Phoenix Crossland.

Warriors:

1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Edward Kosi 3. Viliami Vailea 4. Adam Pompey 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Te Maire Martin 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Wayde Egan 10. Bunty Afoa 11. Jackson Ford 12. Bayley Sironen 13. Tohu Harris 14. Dylan Walker 15. Josh Curran 16. Jazz Tevaga 17. Tom Ale 18. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 20. Taine Tuaupiki 21. Freddy Lussick 22. Ronald Volkman 23. Demitric Sifakula

The Knights and Warriors square off for the second time this season when they meet on Easter Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The Warriors emerged triumphant 20-12 back in Round 1 in Wellington and have since continued their excellent start to the season to be in second spot on the ladder coming into this clash.

A narrow loss to the Roosters followed the opening round win over the Knights, but the Warriors are unbeaten since, conquering the Cowboys, Bulldogs and Sharks.

The Warriors have Te Maire Martin and Tohu Harris back which should help.

The Warriors have travelled almost 30 hours to start the season and that can take its toll. So much so that coach Andrew Webster has rested his players from training in the lead-up, so clearly it’s an issue.

Referee: Liam Kennedy

PREDICTION.

I don’t know to be honest. Both sides can win, and I am not sure which Warriors side will turn up, the good one or the bad one. The Knights at home are a handful so I need a points start for both.

The Knights 5.5 points start, @ $1.53 OR, the Warriors 5.5 points start @ $1.49
