A rivalry steeped in history traces back to the inception of Super Rugby over a quarter of a century ago. Always a fan favourite on the calendar, this matchup hasn’t graced Forsyth Barr Stadium in front of crowds since the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa. The subsequent years were played under unique circumstances, with 2022 held in a bubble without spectators and 2023 hosted in Melbourne as part of the Super Round.

The Highlanders’ Heritage jersey pays homage to the 1997-1999 design, evoking memories of matches played before the Terraces at Carisbrook, where rugby legends like Taine Randall, Josh Kronfeld, and Anton Oliver graced the field.
Ah, Remember these names played in front of packed terraces at Carisbrook in Dunedin. Spectators used to warm up at the Parkside Hotel ,just a few steps from the ground. It would be packed and I remember the owners would remove the glass from the sliding doors, as people spilled onto the foot path. Great Days.
Injuries and Replacements
The Highlanders will be without Captain, Billy Harmon, this weekend who is recovering from a cut to his hand received during the Highlanders win in Tonga last weekend, however, Ethan de Groot returns from All Black rest to take over the Captaincy and his starting spot in the front row.
Exciting Line-up Changes
Nikora Broughton, known for his hard running, steps in to replace Harmon at the back of the scrum, while the promising 20-year-old Will Stodart prepares for his third appearance this year.
On the left wing, Argentinian international Martín Bogado takes over from Connor Garden-Bachop.
