It was a mixed weekend for the two sides in round one, with the Panthers upset by the Broncos while the Rabbitohs overcame the Sharks thanks to an impressive performance from Lachlan Ilias and Latrell Mitchell.

Scott Sorensen will miss this clash due to a concussion with Matt Eisenhuth joining the bench in the only change for Penrith. For the Rabbitohs, Tevita Tatola and Jai Arrow are both out with Daniel Suluka-Fifita and Jed Cartwright coming into the side.

These two teams have formed quite the rivalry over the last couple of years, and the Rabbitohs will once again be out for revenge after being eliminated in finals by the Panthers for the third year in a row.

The Panthers are still adjusting to life without Api Koroisau and Viliame Kikau, and they looked out of sorts at times in their loss to the Broncos. Soni Luke injected a lot of momentum off the bench last week, and time will tell whether Ivan Cleary will send him into the game any earlier on Thursday.

The Rabbitohs will be hoping Ilias can back up his stellar showing last week, as he faces a juicy battle with opposite number 7 in Nathan Cleary. Cody Walker and Jarome Luai can be two of the most explosive players in the competition on their day, but the Panthers will need a much improved performance from their five-eighth this week.

LAST TEN MATCHES

Panthers 9, Rabbitohs 1.

My prediction is for Penrith to win, but not by much. I like the fact they are at home in front of their fans, and were getting better as the game went on against the Broncos. If betting check the points available for the line.
